Privacy Policy

The short version: Cloudscribe processes your audio through Google's Gemini API and stores your transcripts in your own Google Drive. We do not sell your data. Your recordings and transcripts belong to you.
What Cloudscribe does
Cloudscribe is an audio recording and transcription app. It captures audio on your device, uploads recordings to your Google Drive, and uses Google's Gemini API to generate transcripts which are saved as Markdown files in your Drive.
Data we collect
To provide the service, Cloudscribe collects and processes the following:
- Your Google account email address and display name (for authentication and display only)
- Audio recordings you make within the app (uploaded to your own Google Drive)
- Transcripts generated from your recordings (saved to your own Google Drive)
- Usage data — transcription minutes used per month (stored against your account ID to enforce fair use limits)
- Subscription status if you subscribe to Cloudscribe Pro (managed via Stripe)
Audio and transcription
Audio recordings are uploaded to your personal Google Drive account. Transcription is performed by Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash API. Audio files are sent to Gemini solely for the purpose of generating a transcript and are not retained by us beyond that request. The resulting transcript is saved to your Drive as a Markdown file. We do not listen to, store, or analyse your recordings beyond what is necessary to produce the transcript.
Google Drive access
Cloudscribe requests permission to access your Google Drive using the drive.file scope. This means we can only access files that Cloudscribe itself creates — we cannot read, modify, or delete any other files in your Drive. Your Google credentials are handled by Google's official OAuth 2.0 system and are never seen or stored by Cloudscribe.
Usage tracking
We track how many minutes of transcription you use each month to enforce fair use limits on the free tier and to provide accurate usage information in the app. This data is stored against your Google account ID in our systems and is reset monthly. We do not share this data with third parties.
Payments
If you subscribe to Cloudscribe Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your subscription. We do not store your payment card details — these are held securely by Stripe. Stripe's use of your data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Third-party services
- Google APIs (Drive, OAuth, Gemini) — your use is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy
- Stripe — payment processing, subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare — hosting and infrastructure
Data retention
Your recordings and transcripts live in your own Google Drive — you control them entirely. Usage counters are reset monthly and deleted when no longer needed. If you delete your account or stop using the service, your usage data is removed from our systems on request.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold. To exercise these rights or to request deletion of your account data, email us at hello@cloudscribe.app.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above. Continued use of Cloudscribe after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
